This Read the Scriptures program was inspired through the Book of Mormon reading challenge he issued in August 2005: "I offer a challenge to members of the Church throughout the world and to our friends everywhere to read or reread the Book of Mormon." "...there will come into your lives and into your homes an added measure of the Spirit of the Lord, a strengthened resolution to walk in obedience to His commandments, and a stronger testimony of the living reality of the Son of God."

"I love our scriptures. I love these wonderful volumes, which set forth the word of the Lord-given personally or through prophets-for the guidance of our Father's sons and daughters. I love to read the scriptures, and I try to do so consistently and repeatedly."

We are grateful to him. He will be missed. "May we go with determination to try a little harder to be a little better."

 

Prompts

For those of you who belong to a scripture reading team, you may have already noticed this new feature! This "Prompt" icon is included with each team member's schedule information on the "Member Progress" page. Click on this icon to select which prompt you wish to send to an individual team member. It includes a message that will be sent, or modify the message as you wish. It can be a prompting for motivation or a comment of praise. That team member will receive an email indicating they have received a prompt in the Notifications section of their Read The Scriptures Mailbox.

 

Team Enhancements

The entire team section of your account has been significantly enhanced:

• A percentage of the overall team progress is now displayed beside the team name.
• Team comments and Member progress are now available in separate tabs for better viewing.
• Each team member can add their own profile picture and favorite quote or scripture to be displayed with their reading progress. Clicking on the thumbnail will open the picture in a larger view.
• Team members can now Edit and Delete their own posted team comments, and the team owner has the ability to edit or delete any comment.
• The team owner has a Settings control to select which readings will display and be included in the team.
• Very soon, teams will have the ability to challenge each other.

RTS Mailbox

New to our Read the Scriptures webpage is a personalized mailbox. Compose a private message to send to another RTS member. View messages you've received in your Inbox. View Prompts you've received in your Notifications.

 

Friends

February 11 is our target date to launch the beginning stages of our "LDS Hallway," a social networking system that will be the LDS answer to "MySpace" and "Facebook". This program will allow individuals to search for and communicate with long-lost missionary companions or relocated ward members, and interact with friends and acquaintances in a clean, safe, and more comfortable environment. At last, you can visit with your LDS friends in the Hallway - without skipping class!

The February Ensign is now available. Select it from the "Create" page in your account.

 

Ward Bulletin Share this service with other members in your ward or branch by including an announcement in your Sunday ward bulletin. Click on the Ward Bulletin box of the Tell a Friend page and enter your Bulletin Leader's email address. We have provided an announcement, or feel free to modify it as appropriate.

Our Read The Scriptures services are offered free and will always remain free. Our purpose is to provide a means to assist you with completing your reading goals.
