SERVICE DISRUPTIONSWe're sure you all experienced some disruptions with the Read The Scriptures service over this past week. For this we truly apologize! We had some unexpected problems with our web server, which resulted in the need to upgrade to a newer, faster, even more reliable server than before. While implementing this change, we ran into some difficulties with keeping everything fully operational, so we appreciate your patience and understanding while we were working out (and continue to work out) all the 'bugs'. EXCITING NEW FEATURES!We have continued to make more exciting additions and modifications to the website that we are sure you'll enjoy! HighlightingYes, Highlighting!! Within the Online Reader, we have developed the ability to highlight sections within your reading that may have special significance to you. When you open your online reading, you can't miss the pink highlighting pen in the top right corner. Click this and select one of the available colors. Then click and select any text you wish to highlight. You may use multiple colors, and your highlighting will be saved and will be viewable every time that scripture is accessed! If you wish to delete the highlighting from a verse, click the small highlighting pen icon that will be displayed at the beginning of that verse.Re-sizing the Text and Screen SizeIf you would prefer to have the text of the online reading larger, click the 'Increase Font' button near the top of your reading to increase the font size. As well, if the lines of your reading extend beyond the right side of your screen, this 'Increase Font' button will also shorten the length of the rows to prevent you from scrolling side to side for each line. To change it all back, click 'Decrease Font'.Advance your Schedule! The schedule advance or reverse feature is now done! You can automatically change the position of your reading schedule in the Online Reader by clicking the 'Change Schedule Position' dropdown in the top right corner, and select the number of days (positive or negative) you wish to alter your schedule. Many of you will find this feature useful if you complete your scripture reading from your book and then want to advance your schedule without clicking on the 'Complete' button multiple times for each completed day. You may wish to reverse your position to a previous day in case you missed one or wish to review a previous reading.Sign-up ProcessFor all your friends and family that have yet to sign up with Read the Scriptures, the sign up process will be simplified for them. Now new users can choose their own password during the account set up process, rather than receive the first temporary password by email. Sorry we didn't develop it this way for all of you from the beginning!Schedule StatisticsWithin your account, you can now click on your schedule's progress bar to see all the statistics for that schedule, including:
As you can tell, we have a never-ending list of enhancements we wish to incorporate into this service. Please be patient with us as we continue to develop this system for each of you! Behind or Not?Last newsletter, we announced that we removed the 'behind' statement from your schedule's completed message. We knew some people didn't like the negative statement, however we found even more people wanted to know if they were behind and appreciated this statement! So sorry - we've reinstated the 'behind' statement as it was originally. We want to thank all of you who support Read the Scriptures! Thank you for your patience, understanding, and positive feedback and suggestions! |
